MLFA 4 vs 0 Tai Po

Saturday 23rd January 2016

Well done to the U18 Girls Team for their first fixture win over Tai Po in the official HKFA Jockey Club Girls League.

In one of the coldest weekends in Hong Kong's history, the MLFA girls managed a 4-0 victory over Tai Po which took place at Wu Shan recreational park, Tuen Mun. Despite the chilly conditions, the girls played some great football and kept a clean sheet which takes us to 2nd in the league table. We would like to thank great turnout in support for the team for their first league fixture of the season. Onwards and Upwards!

Our game changers of the night were:
Harriet Ho:  Harriet was silky smooth in the midfield for us.  She connected our team through her vision, dynamic passing and ability to take on defenders and get in behind the opponents backline.  She brought tons of energy and the skill to match.
Olivia Doherty:  Olivia is one of our youngest players, and new to the team, but on this evening you never would have known it.  She is so creative on the ball, keeps the game simple, and combines around opponents with ease.  She is a quiet killer, who has a big presence.
Claudia Uhlir & Ashley Wong:  Claudia and Ashley held down the fort across our backline.  Their unity, communication and teamwork to cover each other’s backs and support our teams attack was priceless on the evening.
Keeley Orr:  Keeley plays with big presence, and her biggest impact is how calm and composed she is for our team.  She always finds the right place at the right time to make the game look easy for all those around her.
Sylvie Stewart Grantham:  Sylvie led the team on this evening with the mentality of a true captain - whatever her team needed she provided.  If she needed to be aggressive and get through the backline she went for it, but when she saw her teammates on the attack she covered back in and controlled the midfield.  She was a stalwart presence for us, and led us through and through all evening long.
Caitlin Blanchard:  Caitlin is another one of our youngest players, but you would not have known it with her speed, aggression, and tactical play.  She was able to hold the ball up and connect brilliant combo play under tight pressure and make it look easy.  Her decision-making and composure on the ball changed the whole flow of the game, and it was great to see her confidence shine!
