Gavin McDermott - Director and Head Coach

I was born and raised in the UK and have always loved the 'beautiful game'. I have a UEFA 
Coaching Licence as well as a Sports Science and Education background. I have been coaching 
since 1996 and teaching since 2001. I have worked for the MLS in the United States and Manchester United in the UK as well as teaching at both primary and secondary school level in the UK, New Zealand and in South Korea. I am proud to be part of the CDNIS faculty as a High School PE teacher. I proudly introduce what has to be the BEST coaching team here in Hong Kong and one that can rival any Football Academy in the world. 

Our coaching team has a wealth of experience, all are well qualified as coaches and many also as teachers. As our mission statement suggest, we believing in coaching the 'whole person', and to do that a coach needs to understand the 'person behind the player'. In all sincerity, I believe we have 
the best coaching team in Hong Kong and can rival any such academy anywhere in the world. 


Kelly Lindsey - Director of Coaching Education & Development

Kelly
 was an All-American, four- year starter and two-time team captain on the Notre Dame women’s soccer team. Kelly was a part of the United States Women’s National
Team from 1995 to 2002, including the U-16, U-21 and Women’s National Team levels.
Her extensive coaching experience includes stops at five collegiate programs and one professional team. She is currently working with the nationally ranked University of California, Berkeley focused on Player Development.


Kelly will head the girls/ladies programme. Kelly is an 'A' Licence coach.
                                          





Philip Lam - Multimedia Manager & Elite Player Coach 

Born and raised in London, UK, he played for two teams in London with one being a British Born Chinese Society team for over 10 years. He went on to become the coach for the team and was very successful in winning various tournaments. The second team he played for was a London FA affiliated team that would compete in local leagues and tournaments. He had a spell in coaching the adult team but more recently helped set up the youth them before residing in Hong Kong.

Phil has a great passion for coaching and is very enthusiastic about the development of young players. He also believes that building and maintaining a relationship with the kids is just as important as the coaching side.

Phil is a FA Level 1 Coach.


Tom Halder - Player Development Officer and Coach 

An ex-CDNIS student and U20s football captain. Tom is an extremely passionate coach with a resonate desire to see his young players succeed. Tom lead the U12s boys to victory in Xiamen whilst building many strong and positive relationships with his players. As a young man still, Tom will continue to play with HKFC first XI this season and well as the for the coaches/parents team!

Tom is an FA Level 1 Coach.







Chris Cooke - Coach


From the North-East of England, Chris decided to follow his love and passion for coaching after a successful career in the Royal Marines. Chris quickly established himself as a coach with potential as the lead coach for Oxfordshire County FA and County Council before moving on to Fulham Football Club.  At Fulham F.C Chris was responsible for developing their community coaching programme within schools alongside coaching in one of the Development Centres and the Academy.  

Chris joined Hong Kong Football Club in 2013/14 and coached the Ladies team to win their first trophy in five seasons. Chris will remain coaching the ladies team at HKFC whilst coaching one of our boys teams and providing important exit routes for our female footballers.

Chris is a UEFA B licence coach.


Dave Perry - U18s Girls Coach

Dave has worked with Gavin coaching the HKFC teams for many years, competing in the Elite Henderson League and never finishing below second. He has also coached the HKIS and CDNIS high school teams, taking the HKIS team from HKSSF Division Three to Division One in four years, culminating in the most successful football season in HKIS history. While providing much needed cover for several of our teams, Dave also acts as the CDNIS school football liaison, ensuring we provide the necessary exit routes for all of our players.

Matt Orr - Junior Coach

Matt is a former CDNIS student and MLFA player who has developed through the ranks. He now currently plays for the Hong Kong under 18s national team and is also a Division 1 College player at San Francisco University. Matt is a keen coach who brings enthusiasm as well as a host of experience for the youth academy on what it takes to make it onto the next step of higher level football after school years.

Kit Ling Hsiao - Local Football Liaison

Kit Ling is a bright, passionate and motivated young coach who gained her AFC 'C' License with an outstanding achievement in 2013.

Kit believes football is much more than a game and in it's power to promote team spirit, cohesion and camaraderie. 

Kit takes pride in creating a fun and engaging learning environment for our youngest budding football stars.

Kit is an AFC 'C' Licence coach



Jason Lui - U14s Coach


Jason or Coach Lui to the kids joins MLFA after 5 (and still going) successful seasons with Southern district in which time he has won both the Henderson League and Cup.

Jason is quite a reserved man, a thinker, indeed one of life's great students of the game.
Jason admired for his great commitment, attention to detail and strong relationships with the children.

We are proud to have Jason join our coaching team for 2014/15. He will provide the much needed links with Southern district and the benefits that this link brings to our club.



Marlon Ricardo - Coach and Conditioning Expert

Marlon Ricardo started his professional career in the Dutch Eredivise before plying his trade in Belgian, Malaysia and finishing his playing career here in HK. Since his retirement from professional football, Marlon has worked in football coaching with many professional outfits with particular reference to conditioning and technical training. Marlon currently works at the Hong Kong Institute of Human Performance and with HK's finest young players who represent the HK National team. Most recently, some of you may have seen Marlon playing for the Ajax all-stars at this year's Soccer 7s.

Marlon is committed to working with MLFA on Mondays for the full season and we are extremely happy to have him on board.





Remis Poon - Coach and Goalkeeping Expert 


Remis has been coaching with MLFA since the first season back in 2007! As an ex-professional player here in HK, Remis knows what it takes to reach the top locally.

Remis is a goalkeeping specialist and will coach the goalkeepers in specialist sessions on Mondays from 230-345pm.

Remis is an AFC 'B' Licence Coach






Paul Hodgson (Coach Oggy) - FUNdamentals Expert

'Oggy', as we like to call him, lives and breathes football. He has been a Primary School teacher here in HK for over 10 years now, he loves working with children and has all the refined qualities that you would expect from an early years teacher. He has a wonderful nature that young people just love and love being around!

Footy FUNdamentals, as the name suggests, is for our youngest members from ages 4-5 years and is aimed at developing their physical literacy through the FUN games and football.

All classes are small ratios of 1:10 or less.




Ching Hang Chun - Girls Coach


Ching is a current member of the HK girls set-up and needless to say has great playing ability that the girls will look up to and admire. A great role model for all aspiring young ladies!

Ching, like all the MLFA coaches, is bright and fun loving with a warm personality, and of course, loves kids and football!


Ching is currently part of the CDNIS Physical Education Facility.

Ching is a HKFA Level 1 coach.
